Shiwani: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Partha P Dasgupta: When I was in the Second Year of English Honours batch at Jadavpur University . The Class would go on and sudden moments of epiphany brought tears to my eyes.

Shiwani: How long does it take you to write a book?
Partha P Dasgupta: a) If it is a book with lots of authentic research material, a novel takes even two to four years.
b) If the novel is a pure construct of imagination, it takes the same time. As my novel ‘AND AUTUMN CAME ‘ fuses profound research and intense imagination, it took four years to complete.
c) If a novel emerges more from personal experience than the two mentioned above, it may take less than a year.

Shiwani: What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
Partha P Dasgupta: a) Usually midday or late evenings during holidays and vacations ( as I work as the Principal of a College)
b) A line or two during around 5 PM, if I can manage on weekdays.
