“I am Shanaya Singh and I am 9 years old born to Mr. Suraj Kumar Singh and Mrs. Rajashree Singh in Kolkata. I am a student of grade 4 in Mahadevi Birla World Academy – Kolkata. Right from my kindergarten days I used to listen to stories told by my mother, father and grandmother. During this pandemic when we all were stuck inside our house, I thought of narrating stories to the world virtually to keep my self occupied and this decision made me set a world record of being the world’s youngest storyteller and I won many accolades.
At a very young age of 6 I started my journey of storytelling for The East London Radio – Talking Stories – UK hosted by Mr. Tony Cranston after which I was invited by many international and national institutions for storytelling sessions across the globe. After this I thought instead of reading stories and narrating them to others why not write my own stories and tell it to others! My creativity and imagination helped me to write stories. I got tremendous support from my teachers, family and friends who always encouraged me and appreciated my work. I also want to open an online reading club for children and adults. My other hobbies are playing violin, dancing, drawing and caring for animals.
My first book ‘The World Need Stories’ published will be a great fun and company for kids of my age. I believe in spreading reading culture.”
